Stretch your running legs and support Grove Christian Outreach Center at the 3rd annual Grove Trotter 5K/10K. The event will be held Saturday, October 14th taking off from Chickahominy Riverfront Park. The run will start out going over the Chickahominy River Bridge, out on the Capital Trail and then back in to the park for a full 5K or 10K. The entire run will take place on the well maintained Capital Trail. This is a Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix event, and awards will be given for various age groups. REGISTER HERE

The Outreach Center seeks to serve those teens who are less likely to attend due to the high costs of attire and fees. The Outreach Center is excited to partner with WJCC Schools, the PTSAs, and James City County Parks and Recreation to make this years’ boutique a big success, along with community partners from Lambda Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Donations of formal attire, shoes, and accessories are accepted at the Outreach Center throughout March until April 5. The Outreach Center is also accepting monetary donations to help students purchase prom tickets through April 30. To donate toward the costs, click groveoutreach.networkforgood.com/ The Prom Boutique will be held on April 16-18 at Legacy Hall in New Town and will be open to students at WJCC High Schools. More information for students will be made available through the schools soon including how to make an appointment. The Center is also looking for business partners interested in donating volunteer hours or funding to help make this a special event to remember. “Personal stylists” are needed to help the teens pick out clothing, accessories or give hair and makeup tips as students come for their stylist appointments for young women and men. GiveLocal757 Day is Tuesday, April 23, 2024

The Give Local 757 Initiative is a program created by the Peninsula Community Foundation to spark and grow local philanthropy.

The event will be both online and live at the Precarious Beer Hall space.

Donors can register online to give or come to the event to donate live throughout the day.

Food and drink for purchase will be available throughout the day as well as lots of fun prizes and family-friendly activities. Can you say Skeeball?!?!

The Grove Gallery will be highlighting residents from the community, displaying original art to tell their stories and unique experiences of the Grove community. An artist reception and grand opening of the art gallery is planned with featured guests of honor and to celebrate the work of all our artists.

Our Prom Boutique event was a great success thanks to the many donations of beautiful gowns and suits and the many volunteers who helped us collect, sort, and "shop" with the teens who came by. We were able to serve over 30 teens. Huge thanks to our community partners, JCC Parks and Recreation for donating Legacy Hall and the dressing rooms! Thanks also to WJCC Guidance, teachers, and PTSA leaders from Jamestown, Lafayette, Warhill, and York County's Bruton for all the support. We also have to thank FISH and Williamsburg House of Mercy for collecting items for us and loaning us some clothing racks - Busch Gardens Entertainment department did too! We are so grateful for the many hands who make these programs so special! We also celebrated National Volunteer Week during April with brand new t-shirts and a gift, a small token of our appreciation for all of you who so graciously give your time and effort to help us serve our neighbors! We truly could not do what we do without you! (If you haven't received your t-shirt or gift yet, be sure to pick them up next time you're here. See Allyson for yours!) And of course our week of celebrations for our 20th Anniversary was a fantastic success! Thank you to all who gave to our Give Local 757 campaign! We raised over $10,000 in one day. Thank you for your part in helping to end hunger in Greater Williamsburg. All the monies collected will go to purchasing food for our Food Ministries including our Fresh Food Room and Food Pantry. We also saw so very many friends "old" and new during the week and especially for our Open House on Wednesday. We are grateful for the many who took time to stop by and learn more about our programs and services. Even though the week is over, we always welcome anyone to come and get a tour of the facility and learn more about opportunities to volunteer or donate to programs coming up! On Friday of our anniversary week, our new Grove Gallery opened with a lovely evening with our Grove community. We are so excited to introduce talented Grove residents who shared their art with us. You can come by any time our offices are open to view the gallery located in the Service Room. Artists are all local to Grove or longtime friends of the Outreach Center. We were blessed especially with longtime Grove family Lisa Reid-Wiliamson who shared her family's history. Be sure to come and see all the artwork in person. We also announced our first annual GALA! We're excited to host you at a special celebration for our 20th anniversary and fundraiser to help us continue to serve for (at least) 20 more years!
